Though patents are never concrete proof that you can expect a certain idea or feature to make it to your favorite pickup, they do occasionally portend an interesting future and that would certainly be the case if one of Ram’s recent patents goes into development.
The sharp-eyed sleuths at Allpar uncovered a patent granted to Ram parent company Fiat Chrysler for a retractable ramp system for pickup truck beds.
As you can see in the photo gallery above, the ramp/ramps would be housed in a channel/channels in the truck bed but could be slid out and down the bed before being locked into place.
It’s an awesome idea and, like Ram’s RamBox storage system, a great way to put the truck’s unused space to work. Plus it seems easy enough to implement. Do it, Ram!
