Wacker Neuson announces 2013 Trowel Challenge winners

Wacker Neuson has announced the winners of its 2013 Trowel Challenge, which took place in Wacker Neuson’s outdoor exhibit at World of Concrete.

More than 150 trowel operators entered the fifth annual Trowel Challenge, which tested the participants’ entire range of skills by requiring them to maneuver around an obstacle course on a 2,400 square foot slab.

Preliminary competitions were held Tuesday through Thursday during the show. The contestants with the 10 fastest times from the preliminaries advanced to the finals held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 7. The top 10 finalists each had one run through the course and that time was added to their preliminary time.

The first place winner was Wyatt Molzahn of Wyatt Molzahn Construction in Worland, Wyoming. Molzahn had the fastest total time of 58.708 during the three day event and won the grand prize: a customized CRT 48-35VX ride-on trowel powered by a special Vanguard  Big Block  V-twin engine and an all-expense paid trip for two to the Caribbean.

The second place winner was Richard Martin of Poppoff in Richland, Washington. Martin finished with a final run time of 30.591and won a  Wacker Neuson CRT 36, 36-inch walk-behind trowel.

The third place winner was Kent Goossen of Al’s Construction in Rosenort, Manitoba, Canada. With a final run time of 29.431, Goossen won a Wacker Neuson BTS 635s portable cut-off saw.

Each of the top 10 finishers also received a Wacker Neuson jacket.
