Eco Sound Barrier by CENTRIA approved for use in California and Utah

Esb Hi ResTOWNSHIP, Pa.CENTRIA is pleased to announce that both the California Department of Transportation and the Utah Department of Transportation have approved Eco Sound Barrier, the industry’s first inexpensive composite sound barrier, for use on state highway projects. A cost-effective, green alternative to traditional precast concrete barriers, Eco Sound Barrier offers a new option for noise control on state highways.

Competitive with traditional precast barriers, Eco Sound Barrier touts the benefit of fewer workers needed to install the barriers – and this is done in significantly less time than precast barriers, lowering labor costs.

“Eco Sound Barrier by CENTRIA is a revolution in highway sound barrier technology,” said Cory Matchett, product manager for CENTRIA. “Our new sound barrier not only saves money for state DOTs, but it’s also a truly green alternative to precast concrete.”

The only highway product to be Cradle-to-Cradle Product Innovation Institute certified, Eco Sound Barrier is made from 23 percent recycled material and is 100 percent recyclable at the end of its useful life. And, at only 4.25 pounds per square foot, Eco Sound Barrier requires far fewer trucks to transport it to the jobsite. This dramatically cuts down on emissions, lowers a project’s carbon footprint and reduces transportation and labor costs on highway jobsites.

CENTRIA’S Eco Sound Barrier is approved for use in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Arizona and Nebraska. Applications are pending in states across the U.S.

Eco Sound Barrier panels come in the standard length of 14 feet but can also be customized to fit particular project requirements. The panels are available in 20 standard colors, cementitious coatings, and print patterns like ashlar stone and brick. For more information, visit https://www.centria.com/.
