Genesis launches GDT 590, its largest Razer demolition tool for excavators

Genesis’ new GDT 590 Razer demolition tool expands the company’s range of concrete processors and demolition shears to excavators weighing 120,000 pounds and up.

The GDT 590 features a 52-inch jaw opening, 64.5-inch jaw depth and over 12-foot reach from the attachment mounting pivot (boom or stick) forward. It can be used for such tasks as general and bridge demolition, concrete recycling and C&D processing. The GDTs can also cut through structural steel, rebar, aluminum, wire and copper.

Cat’s New Thermal Imaging Camera Debuts on AP1055F paver

For contractors who want to monitor asphalt temperatures in real time, Caterpillar has a new thermal imaging system.

The system, which includes an infrared camera and Global Navigation Satellite System, can be retrofitted to Cat’s pavers for achieving optimal paving quality. Cat is rolling out the new Thermal Mapping on its rubber-tracked AP1055F paver, designed for airport runways, interstates, highways and other large jobsites.

Morooka intros largest U.S.-built rotating crawler dumper, the MST-3000VDR (Video)

Morooka continues to expand its rotating crawler carrier lineup, with a model that the company says has the largest payload of any rotating tracked dumper built in the United States.

The new MST-3000VDR also represents Morooka’s largest rotating crawler dumper built in the United States, the company says. It recently rolled out of the Japan-based company’s plant in Ashland, Virginia, boasting a payload of 36,000 pounds. (The company plans to introduce an even larger rotating dumper next year, the MST-4000VDR, which the company says will be “the largest rotator on the market.” It will be built in Japan, the company says, and have a payload capacity of 39,683 pounds.)

How the First Caterpillar Tractor Ever Built — Serial # EXP 0000-L — Was Rescued and Restored

Matt Veerkamp was on a parts search 13 years ago in Arbuckle, California, when he was asked to take a look at a rusty old Caterpillar Twenty.

Matt wasn’t too excited about the offer, but that changed when he saw the tractor. The serial number stamped on the transmission case and the engine block read, “EXP 0000-L.”
