If Hyundai’s next-generation HA30 and HA45 Articulated Dump Trucks feel familiar when you step into the cab, that’s the point.

The manufacturer redesigned the truck’s operator environment around the same digital interface and standardized controls used in its newest HX Series excavators, easing operator training and setup time.

“We're working to make every Hyundai machine feel familiar to operate,” said Joe Hodges, product manager, HD Construction Equipment Hyundai North America. “Whether an operator moves from an excavator into an articulated dump truck or vice versa, they'll find the same interface design, reducing their learning curve while helping owners maximize productivity across their fleet.”

Hyundai says it plans to apply this hardware and software to other new heavy equipment models moving forward.

The HA30 and HA45 were introduced in 2022, marking Hyundai’s entry into the articulated dump truck market. They are the result of the company’s collaboration with sister company Develon, which offers the DA30 and DA45 articulated haulers.

Designed for earthmoving, quarry, mining and infrastructure applications, the HA45 features a 45-ton payload and a 489-net-horsepower Scania engine, while the HA30 offers a 30-ton payload with a 367-net-horsepower Scania engine. Both models use ZF eight-speed automatic transmissions engineered for production environments.

Hyundai says it focused on productivity and comfort when redesigning the cabs. Larger front and side windows improve visibility around the machine, while a heated air-suspension seat, automatic climate control and more ergonomically positioned interfaces and controls aid in all-day comfort.

A new 12.5-inch touchscreen monitor sits at eye level and serves as the central command center, providing access to payload information, performance data, diagnostics, camera views and machine settings. A redesigned color-coded keypad further simplifies machine operation.

New productivity and safety features include:

  • Auto Squat: Lowers the truck’s front end for easy entry and exit.
  • Automatic Brake-Hold System: Allows for smoother loading cycles.
  • Integrated Payload Weighing: Automatically tracks the weight of the material in the bed to prevent overloading or underloading.
  • Gradient Monitoring: Ensures the truck is operating within its limits.

Routine maintenance has been simplified through ground-level service access, grouped maintenance points, easier access to filters and fluid fill locations. The tilting cab with self-positioning safety locks provides access to the engine compartment.
