The number of financed new construction equipment unit sales in May increased 8 percent compared to April, according to Equipment Data Associates.
In contrast, used financed sales declined by 9 percent during May compared to the month before. Top new equipment contractor buyers for the month included a Wisconsin-based pipeline firm buying 65 machines, including 35 excavators and 22 dozers, and a Missouri underground construction firm buying 21 trenchers.
New financed construction equipment sales rose 12 percent year to date compared to the same period last year. Year-to-date used unit sales increased 4 percent compared to the first five months in 2012.
