In it, Chevrolet sets about explaining how a transmission works. The video builds upon very basic principles, establishing what a lever is by showing a can opener and then a seesaw, before explaining how the gears in a car are really just series of interlocking levers.

In the course of the video, a transmission is built part by part with a careful explanation of each. The explanation of the synchronizer, which did away with noisy gear shifts, is especially interesting. Give the video a watch below.
