336EHchat3Caterpillar unveiled its 336E Hybrid excavator to the press back in October and very soon after was named to Equipment World‘s list of 2013 Innovations Award winners.

Why? The machine uses a hydraulic hybrid system that Cat says provides a 25-percent reduction in fuel consumption compared to the current 336E. And when placed side by side with the previous generation 336D, the hybrid’s fuel reduction goes up to 33 percent and could go as high as 50 percent.

Executive Editor Tom Jackson recently got up close in personal with the 336E H at an event in Peoria, Illinois. He’s also spent some time discussing the machine with product expert Ken Gray, Cat’s global product manager for large hydraulic excavators.

But we want you to be a part of the discussion around this exciting machine as well. So, on Thursday April 11 at 6 p.m. Central we’ll be hosting a live Twitter chat with Ken and Caterpillar as our special guests.

If you don’t have a Twitter account, don’t worry! You can still view and participate in the chat by visiting equipmentworld.com/eqwchat. On that page you’ll find a live stream of the tweets as they roll in and a form where you can submit your questions and comments for the chat.

We’ll discuss the 336E H and the hybrid hydraulic system that makes it tick. Tom will be on hand as well to ask Ken questions and share his experience with the machine.

Both during and before the chat, you can send in your questions and comments to Tom and Ken. There are several ways you can do that:

  1. Be sure to follow Equipment World (@EquipmentWorld), Caterpillar (@CaterpillarInc) and Tom Jackson (@Tier4Tom) on Twitter.
  2. Hop on Twitter the night of the chat and search the #EQWchat hashtag. From there you can tweet @EquipmentWorld or @CaterpillarInc your questions or comments. (Just be sure to use the #EQWchat hashtag in any tweets you send!)
  3. Reach out to us on Facebook at facebook.com/equipmentworld.
  4. Email questions or comments to Online Editor Wayne Grayson at [email protected].

And, as always, feel free to leave questions and comments in the comments section below this post. We’ll see you Thursday!

Disclaimer: Due to the fact that Caterpillar Inc. is in its formal quiet period leading up to the release of first quarter financials, and the subject matter experts present, only questions related to the 336E H Hybrid Excavator will be addressed during this live chat. All questions will be screened, and due to time constraints, we will not be able to answer every question that is submitted.
