Greens say corn-based ethanol a bust

When environmentalists don’t like an alternative fuel, you know something is wrong.  In a recent report the Environmental Working Group condemned the use of corn for ethanol. The report slams the corn-ethanol industry for sucking up two-thirds of all federal subsidies and three-fourths of all the tax benefits in the alternative energy market while producing almost no net energy gain for Americans.  As we have reported in Equipment World magazine, ethanol is a promising alternative fuel. But making it out of corn is about the worst way to do it.
