Vermeer acquires HRE

Vermeer has acquired the operating assets of Horizontal Rig & Equipment (HRE) of Conroe, Texas.

HRE manufactures horizontal directional drilling (HDD) rigs and currently produces three drills with pullback forces of 500,000, 750,000 and 1,000,000 pounds. Vermeer will move production of these units to Pella, Iowa, and distribute the drills through its exclusive global dealer network beginning in spring 2008. The drills will also carry the Vermeer brand name.
