The Louisiana State Police are investigating the theft of several commercial generators, according to the National Equipment Register. Suspects in the crimes rented machines from major national rental fleets in Louisiana using fictitious identities, fraudulent company checks and credit cards and then sold them. Decals, product identification numbers and inventory numbers had been removed from several seized machines, making it difficult for troopers to locate their owners.
