Komatsu America and Mitsui Machinery Distribution announced Oct. 28 they have reached an agreement for MMD Equipment to sell and market Komatsu’s line of compact hydraulic excavators to small U.S. rental houses. MMD is launching a sales and marketing campaign in the continental United States and Alaska targeting independent rental centers – one of its market segment specialties.
By offering Komatsu’s line of compact excavators, MMD will provide a “one stop shop” for its customers, said Ron Johnson, president of MMD Equipment. Many Komatsu distributors will provide product support, parts and service for the products sold by MMD.
“Making Komatsu’s compact excavators accessible to smaller rental companies through MMD, will expose more customers to our products and should ideally expand our customer base,” said David Grzelak, chairman and CEO of Komatsu America.
