Construction job website recognized with award

The American Road and Transportation Builders Association recognized the construction job website ConstructMyFuture.com with the “Pride Award” at its annual legislative conference in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 24.

ConstructMyFuture.com was among six entries chosen for the public-media relations/education category of the pride award. Winners in this category conduct programs that educate the public about contributions the transportation industry makes to the economy.

The award was given to the website for its effort to improve and enhance the image of the transportation construction industry. The site focuses on showcasing careers in construction to students, teachers, counselors and parents, and contains links to schools, careers, industry events and online “bulletin boards” for posting questions and receiving answers about the industry from construction professionals. Since its launch in 2001, the website has added a database of post-secondary vocational training scholarships. The next site addition, expected later this year, will link students with employers looking to hire.

The website is a joint effort by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, the Associated Equipment Distributors Foundation and the Associated General Contractors of America.

Other winners of the pride award in the media relations/education category include the North Carolina and New Mexico departments of transportation, the Ohio Contractors Association, the Pennsylvania Highway Information Association, Sundt Construction of Pheonix and H.W. Lochner of Murray, Utah.
