The Associated General Contractors of New York State received an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriotic Award for its support of the United States military, timesunion.com reported.

The award was presented to AGC New York president and CEO Michael Elmendorf for going above and beyond the law in supporting members of the military. The group was nominated for the award by Navy Reserve Lt. Carl Zielman.

Zielman, AGC New York’s communications director said Elmendorf and the AGC chapter have always been supportive and accommodating to his military career.

“There have been several times I have come to Mike and the association with only a day or two notice of needing time off whether it be for drill, or responding to the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy in New York City,” Zielman told the Times Union. “He has given that to me no questions asked, with a smile on his face.”

AGC New York represents more than 600 members.
