Detroit Diesel division becomes company

The former off-highway division of Detroit Diesel has become a new company, MTU Detroit Diesel. The division had already changed its name to “MTU Detroit Diesel” in January 2005, and had been operating as part of DaimlerChrysler’s off-highway business unit. This change formalizes that arrangement.

It also paves the way for MTU Detroit Diesel to be included in the pending sale of the business unit to private equity firm EQT Partners. That sale is expected to be completed in the first quarter of this year.
