Timken sells Linear Motion Systems

Timken has sold its Linear Motion Systems division – Timken S.p.A in Milan, Italy, and Timken Deutschland GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany — to Overseas Industries S.p.A., an Italian firm. LMS designs and produces linear guides for industrial equipment manufacturers, and is a distributor of needle roller bearings and a range of products marketed under the Nadella brand.

The sale includes the Nadella brand, which Overseas Industries will continue to use with LMS products. Timken will retain the European needle bearing manufacturing facilities and transition needle bearing sales to Timken Torrington. Nadella linear and diversified products serve niche applications, and selling the unit is part of Timken’s strategy to focus on businesses that will grow by bringing value to customers through its knowledge of friction management and power transmission, said Michael Connors, vice president, industrial equipment, for Timken.

“LMS is a specialized business with strong engineering and manufacturing capabilities,” said Federico Nordio, general manager of Overseas Industries. “We expect to leverage all of these strengths to further enhance LMS as a successful, profitable enterprise that will build upon its market-leading position in Italy and Germany…”
