Contractors honored for community service projects

For some contractors, business isn’t about the money. It’s also about community service.

To honor such construction company owners, the National Utility Contractors Association has awarded two of its members the group’s 2004 Community Service Award. NUCA recognized contractors in two categories based on number of employees.

Archer Western contractors of Atlanta took the 251-plus employee category award for its contribution to the Bates House project as part of National Rebuilding Day.

Don Gillis, vice president of Archer Western, said he felt strongly that a company should give back to the community that supports it.
