Equipment rental company uses machine tracking system

Equipment rented from Red Mountain Machinery in Nevada, Arizona and California can now be tracked through an on-board GPS system. The company recently incorporated Qualcomm GlobalTRACS equipment management system into its entire fleet of construction equipment.

The GlobalTRACS system collects, transmits and manages equipment engine hours and locations. Equipment engine hours can be reported on demand or at specific intervals. The data can then be accessed through the Internet or through a special software program.

According to Jay Dee Sale, director of parts and services for Red Mountain, the system will help accurately bill customers for time used.

“We have incorporated the GlobalTRACS system into our day-to-day business operations,” Sale said. “Keeping track of equipment is an essential factor in our company’s success, and (the system) integration has enabled us to see measurable productivity gains.”
