Komatsu dealers Brandeis Machinery & Supply and Power Equipment are the first dealers to receive an Industry Recognized Apprenticeship Program designation from the Associated Equipment Dealers Foundation (AEDF).

The sister companies are divisions of Bramco.

The foundation recognition allows technicians who complete their apprenticeship at the two dealerships to become Certified AEDF Technicians.

The U.S. Department of Labor named the ADEF a Standards Recognition Entity for the heavy equipment industry this fall. This allows the foundation in turn to award the apprenticeship designation.

The two dealers started their apprenticeship program in 2015.

The designation is “a reflection of the hard work that has been put into the program,” says Kara Hamilton, marketing manager for Brandeis Machinery and Power Equipment. “We know in our industry, finding qualified technicians can be a challenge. Our apprenticeship program allows us to build a quality, knowledgeable technician staff.”

The foundation expects to award additional apprentice designations in the future, part of its effort to increase the pool and skill levels of heavy equipment technicians.
