Develon has released its fifth next-generation excavator, the 33-metric-ton DX300LC-9, as it continues to replace its dash-7 models.
The new DX300LC is designed for mass earthmoving and site development, as well as utility and underground infrastructure work, the company says. It can also handle civil and roadbuilding projects, demolition, quarrying and material handling.
“This excavator size is considered the ‘sweet spot’ for production-heavy jobs,” says Brian Kim, Develon crawler excavator product manager. “They’re powerful enough to handle heavy digging and demanding demolition tasks, yet easy to transport on a standard lowboy trailer.”

- Electro-hydraulic controls — Deliver up to 8% greater fuel efficiency. The joysticks replace mechanical pilot controls, simplify movement in tight spaces with stick steer and thumbwheel steering options, and operators can personalize controls to match their operating style, the company says.
- Remote smartphone start — Unlock the cab, start the engine and adjust the air conditioning remotely via the My Develon telematics app. No physical key needed.
- Standard factory-integrated 2D machine control for grading and digging guidance. The excavators also come ready to be equipped with 3D machine control.
- Smart Around View Monitor Camera System and Human Detection System — Six cameras, radar sensors and AI provide a 360-degree view around the excavator. (Optional for all -9 Series excavators.)
- E-Stop — Safety system that automatically slows the excavator when it detects a person within 13 feet and brings the machine to a complete stop when someone is within 6.5 feet.
- 12-inch touchscreen — High-resolution display with customizable split-screen views. Operators can use it to select among the four power modes, control hydraulic flow for attachments and adjust in-cab heating and cooling. An optional dual-monitor setup enables management of up to four functions simultaneously.
- Virtual Walls — An e-fence system that lets operators set digital boundaries to prevent the excavator boom or bucket from striking overhead and underground obstacles.
- Advanced Lift Assist — Displays real-time lifting capacity and warns operators of potential tipping risks. A dynamic lifting-force table highlights hazard zones on slopes and uneven ground.
- Weighing System — Tracks bucket weight levels in real time to ensure dump trucks are loaded to weight limits.
- Breaker Assist — Prevents blank firing to protect internal components from wear. An auto-breaker setting reduces hand fatigue.
- D-Ecopower — Power mode that saves fuel.
- Advanced Prognostics and Health Management — Technology that monitors critical components like hydraulic oil, engine oil, main pumps and swing motor for predicting future maintenance needs.
Develon's next-generation excavators join a busy market. Between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026, nearly 15,000 new financed excavators were sold in the U.S., according to Fusable’s EDA equipment finance data. That ranks them as the top-three seller, behind compact track loaders and mini excavators, which are defined as 10 metric tons and below. (Both EDA and Equipment World are owned by Fusable.)
