A Boy and His Bridge

A boy and his bridge-photo 2I’ll give a disclaimer first. This is just a gratuitous way to take advantage of my position as an editor for Better Roads and show off a picture and video of my kid. I’m biased, but I think he is a cutie.

Before heading off to kindergarten today, my 5-year-old son was extremely excited about a bridge he had constructed.

Like most young boys, he’s obsessed with Lego bricks (my aching feet from stepping on those darn things can prove it) and with building creations. The creation of the day was a bridge.

While I was writing about a bridge in Iowa, he came over to me very proudly to show off this bridge. He even created a story about how it’s electronic and can do all sorts of amazing things. (Maybe next he’ll design a roadway from Lego bricks or Trio blocks that can automatically get rid of congestion!)

As a proud mama, I, of course, had to take a photo and video. You get to be the recipients. (You can watch the video below.)

I’m proud to say construction must run in the blood. I write about road and bridge construction. His daddy is an architect. Now, my youngest son is building bridges.

Do we have a future bridge engineer on our hands?

Do you have any photos of building creations from when you were young? Any of your children’s or grandchildren’s creations? If so, please send me the pics at [email protected]. Feel free to send even photos of the grown-up bridge of which you’re most proud that you’ve designed that is actually functioning as part our nation’s transportation system.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing your photos!
