The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) closed an 80-year-old bridge that spans the Little Sac River on Greene County Route BB after a significant amount of deterioration was found during a bridge inspection, the Springfield News-Leader reports.

The bridge, which is located between Greene County Route Z and Missouri Route 13 northeast of Willard, was built in 1939 and serves approximately 400 vehicles per day.

MoDOT is working out the method and schedule for repairs, but expects repairs to be complete and the bridge reopened to traffic by the end of December, barring any bad weather or scheduling delays.
