A ship hit part of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge over the Delaware River at approximately 10:15 Wednesday night, April 4, 2018, causing the closure of the bridge for more than five hours, NJ.com reports.

According to a spokeswoman for the Burlington County Bridge Commission, the bridge was in the open position when the ship made contact with the fenders that protect the bridge’s piers that anchor it to the bottom of the river.

Engineers inspected the bridge and determined that the only damage was to the railings of the pedestrian walkways, and that the bridge itself wasn’t structurally damaged.

The bridge re-opened around 3:30 a.m.
