The interstate will have lane restrictions in both directions between lane marker 291 and 295 as a temporary barrier wall is installed.
INDOT tells the news agency that contractors will begin constructing the northbound bridges over both creeks in the fall of 2016 using the newly constructed median bridges, which will be used to shift northbound traffic away from the work zone to ensure worker safety. The southbound bridges over both creeks will be replaced in 2017.
According to the news agency, INDOT says it will enforce a construction zone speed limit of 55 miles per hour and wants to remind drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through the active work zone. Lane shifts and lane restrictions will remain in effect until the project is completed, which is projected to be in late 2017.
