MooreThe American Public Works Association (APWA) President Larry Stevens has appointed Gary Lee Moore, Los Angeles city engineer, to the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) board of directors for a three-year term.
APWA co-established the ISI with the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies. A non-profit group, ISI develops and maintains a sustainability rating system for civil infrastructure called Envision.
The Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University collaborates with ISI on the program, which was launched in 2012. The goal is to help in the planning, construction, operation, and rating of infrastructure projects to improve sustainability.
Moore oversees the design and construction of public infrastructure projects in Los Angeles, which involves 802 employees and 409 active projects. He’s been responsible for $5.2 billion in projects since 2003.
“We know he will be an effective spokesperson for the public interest and for sustainable communities,” Stevens said. “Gary’s leadership has been key to transforming Los Angeles into the world’s most livable city. We are thrilled to have him.”
