Traffic on highwayThe Federal Highway Administration has launched a grant program for the second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2) titled SHRP2 Education connection.

It is designed to “introduce SHRP2’s proven innovations and technologies to the next generation of promising transportation professionals.”

Through the program, FHWA wants professors at the university level to build SHRP2 Solutions into their transportation lesson plans. SHRP2 Solutions address state and local challenges including safety, congestion, and aging infrastructure, FHWA said.

Up to 10 cooperative agreements could awarded, FHWA said. These will support course material development and a trip to the 2016 Transportation Research Board annual meeting.

The deadline for program submission is April 9 and applications are available at grants.gov.

More information will be available at a webinar scheduled for March 19.
