Steelwrist is continuing the rollout of its third-generation tiltrotator platform for the XTR7 and XTR13, along with its new, patented hydraulic technology, SuperProp.

The XTR7 pairs with 4- to 7-metric-ton excavators and comes with S40 size interface. The XTR13 is ideal for larger compact and mid-size excavators and is available with S45 and S50 size interfaces. The new tiltrotators can also be used with Steelwrist SQ40 or SQ45 fully automatic coupler that enables hydraulic-powered work tools to be changed without leaving the cab.

The seven-model XTR tiltrotator range includes the previously launched XTR2, XTR10, XTR15, XTR20 and XTR23. The XTR2, XTR15, XTR20 and XTR23 are available now. Deliveries of the XTR7, XTR10 and XTR13 will begin later this year.

Steelwrist says it designed the XTR Series to “take excavator efficiency to the next level, with increased performance, improved safety, higher uptime and an operator experience built around precision and control.”

The tiltrotators offer 360-degree rotation and 45-degree tilt in both directions, allowing  operators to work faster, safer and with greater flexibility. The attachments feature a compact design with steel cast components, refined tilt geometry, upgraded hydraulics, onboard lubrication technology, the latest QuantumConnect control system and SuperProp, Steelwrist’s fully pressure-compensated proportional hydraulic technology.

Additional features include:

  • OptiLube onboard lubrication.
  • High-resolution tilt and rotation sensors.
  • Secure work tool locking. (LockSense is available for XTR tiltrotators with S45/SQ45 coupler interfaces and upward. XTR models with S30 and S40/SQ40 interfaces use the Front Pin Hook safety solution.)

SuperProp Completes the XTR Tech Ecosystem

Together with the XTR tiltrotator hardware and QuantumConnect, SuperProp completes the three-pillar technology foundation for Steelwrist’s third-generation tiltrotators, the company says.

The fully pressure-compensated proportional hydraulic technology integrated in the new XTR models is designed to improve tiltrotator precision, energy efficiency and control by reducing the energy losses that are common in conventional hydraulic systems.

In a tiltrotator, several hydraulic functions — tilt, rotation, gripper and auxiliary circuits for powered work tools — often operate at the same time. Meanwhile, the excavator’s boom and arm are also moving. Variations in pressure in traditional hydraulic systems can affect the flow through proportional valves, which may reduce control precision and make combined movements rougher.

SuperProp is designed to maintain precise and independent control of the tiltrotator functions even when system pressure changes. The technology uses fully pressure-compensated proportional control to give the operator smooth, predictable and responsive multifunctional movement, such as tilting and rotating while operating the boom and arm, the company says.

It also dynamically matches the pressure to the actual load to help reduce unnecessary losses to the hydraulic system, reduce fuel consumption, lower heat generation and improve operating efficiency, according to Steelwrist.

SuperProp is integrated into the design of the XTR tiltroators. As part of the redesign, Steelwrist modified the swivel to ensure full flow capacity with 5,076 psi and up to 52 gallons per minute of hydraulic flow for demanding work tools.

“SuperProp represents a major leap in tiltrotator hydraulics. Reducing energy losses in the hydraulic system is already important on diesel machines, and it will become even more critical as electric excavators continue to grow. With SuperProp, we are taking a clear lead in advanced tiltrotator hydraulics and preparing the XTR platform for the next generation of excavator efficiency,” says Markus Nilsson, Steelwrist CTO.

SuperProp will be available during the third quarter of 2026 for XTR10 to XTR23.
