Manitowoc says its new National Crane NTC80 boom truck delivers 80 tons of lifting power without sacrificing maneuverability or productivity.

Launched alongside the 800-ton Grove GMK8700 mobile all-terrain crane, the 80-ton NTC80 boasts a 156-foot five-section main boom, 0.75-inch wire rope and hoist drum capacity of 22,500 pounds. The NTC80 can produce a single-line pull rated at 17,160 pounds.

National Crane’s latest boom truck also features four-position outriggers for a 24-foot full-span setup, with options to add a single front outrigger configuration for working in crowded areas. Operators will have a 37- to 61-foot, bi-fold, swing-away jib for extending reach and can choose between 0-, 15- or 30-degree offset configurations.

Additionally, the NTC80’s electric pinning speeds up stow and deployment, and operators can lift over the fixed and swing away sections of the jib for quick adjustments.

Customer feedback directed National Crane to gear the NTC80 toward frequent moves and repeated setups for the utility, construction, and oil and gas industries. This boom truck uses a trayless, modular counterweight system, enabling operators to hydraulically stack or remove slabs in any order. Operators can use multiple counterweight packages at once (depending on the chassis and job), including a 12,000-pound standard package, 18,000-pound heavy roadable package, and a 24,000-pound maximum configuration.

Other new features on the NTC80 include:

  • A larger cab with expanded legroom and visibility
  • A boom tip with a standard external A2B cable with optional electric-positioned boom lights or an aircraft beacon
  • Lockable ladder storage on both sides of the crane
  • Multiple ladder access points for technician access
  • Pullout catwalk accessible from the operator cab
  • Integrated hoist access platform for easier inspection
