Most of the work will be for resurfacing and widening projects. In all, 15 contracts were awarded during the month, with nine contractors entering winning bids.
The largest single award of $27.9 million went to C. W. Matthews Contracting to widen 1.4 miles of State Road 20 near Interstate 575 in Cherokee County. Matthews also won two resurfacing awards totaling $5.6 million.
Pittman Construction won the second-largest contract, at $20.7 million, to resurface 26.5 miles on Interstate 20/State Route 402 in McDuffie, Taliaferro and Warren counties. Pittman also won two other resurfacing contracts totaling $4.1 million.
Other winning contractors are as follows:
- East Coast Asphalt – $20.8 million for two projects, the bulk of which is for widening and reconstructing 4.4 miles of State Route 32 in Coffee County.
- E.R. Snell Contractor – $16.8 million to mill, resurface and rehab shoulder on 7 miles on I-85/State Route 403 in Franklin and Hart counties.
- Apac Atlantic – $4.6 million for 12.6 miles of milling, inlay and plant mix resurfacing on State Route 38 in Liberty County.
- Peek Pavement Marking – $3 million for 11 miles of safety markings on I-75/State Route 401 in Bibb County.
- Robinson Paving – $2.8 million for 10.3 miles of milling, plant mix resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation on State Route 36 in Harris and Talbot counties.
- Gregory Bridge Company – $2.2 million for construction of a bridge and approaches on State Route 169 over Cedar Creek in Evans County.
- L. C. Whitford – $591,774 for two projects, a bridge upgrade and sign and pavement marking upgrades.
