Michigan DOT completes reconstruction, reopens Broad Street bridge

road work cones constructionThe Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced that reconstruction of the Broad Street (M-57) bridge over the Shiawassee River in Chesaning has been completed and all lanes are now open to two-way traffic.

The $5.8 million project included culvert work at Bear Creek and the replacement of a culvert at the East Branch of Deer Creek.

At 9 a.m. Dec. 16, temporary traffic devices and signs that were used to maintain traffic during the bridge reconstruction process were removed and traffic flow returned to normal.

However, MDOT said construction barrels would remain in the centerline of the road from Canal Street to Front Street until the weather was good enough for permanent pavement markings to be applied.
