Two new mid-sized wheel loaders are the latest additions to Volvo Construction Equipment™s F-Series line up. The Volvo L45F and L50F delivers peak performance for increased productivity and profitability.
The latest additions to Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE)™s ever-expanding F-Series range of wheel loaders are the new Volvo L45F and Volvo L50F machines. Fitting into the mid-sized class of machines, both wheel loaders are made for performance, with features that include the patented Torque Parallel (TP) loader linkage, separate working hydraulic pumps for maximum power, 100% axle differential locks, the famed Volvo Care Cab, and long service intervals. The initial rollout will begin in December 2008 in the European markets and delivery will expand internationally throughout 2009.
The Torque Parallel linkage gives both the Volvo L45F and Volvo L50F smooth, parallel lift, high rollback torque and excellent lifting power throughout the lift range. A key element to any wheel loader is visibility, and the linkage on both machines provides class-leading pallet visibility, along with a clear view of attachments. A wide rollback angle adds to Volvo™s already good reputation for retaining loose bucket material, while the parallel lift action makes it suited for material handling and pallet handling.
The advantages of working on your own
The Volvo L45F and Volvo L50F wheel loaders provide separate power steering and load-sensing hydraulic pumps. The advantage of this design is that separate pumps ensure full steering power, regardless of the load on the main hydraulic pumps. Oil flow on the load-sensing pump automatically adjusts to match work demand. The result is lower fuel consumption during lighter work and increased component life along with no compromise in performance when operating in tough conditions or demanding applications.
Differential locks offer 100% lock in both the front and rear axles, ensuring synchronized tire spin for optimal traction even in difficult conditions.
Operator comfort has been recognized as a key factor in achieving high machine productivity, and the Volvo Care Cab on the V olvo L45F and Volvo L50F delivers peak of comfort to the operator all day long. Standard air conditioning includes automatic temperature control to suit the operator™s demands. Each cab is installed on fully-viscous mounts for reduced noise and vibration. Operators can breathe easy when operating in dusty conditions due to the best-in-class cab filtration system. The interior of each cab is designed for fatigue-resisting ergonomic comfort, ensuring that the steering wheel, steering column, standard air suspension seat, armrest and levers can all be adjusted to perfectly match each operator. Controls and front-pillar mounted switches are all within easy reach and easy view.
Volvo L45F and L50F: Key features
Engines: Both the Volvo L45F and Volvo L50F are powered by Tier 3 certified water-cooled turbo-charged Volvo D5 4.8 liter engines. The Volvo L50F engine also includes an air-to-air intercooler. Both achieve high torque at low engine speeds.
Hydraulics: Fully hydrostatic transmissions allow smooth shifting and direction change under full load, prolonging the life of the brakes. A thermostatically controlled, 3-mode reversible hydraulic fan is available, automatically adjusting to reverse air flow and blow any material or debris out of the radiator.
Frames: To achieve a high load capacity, both models are based on a heavy duty articulating frame concept. The front and rear frames are designed for maximum ground clearance, while high-quality steel throughout provides durability, increased stress resistance and operational stability.
Attachment Brackets: The Volvo L45F and Volvo L50F are offered with optional Z-bar Volvo patented model attachment brackets. Each bracket has been designed to match the machine™s Torque Parallel linkage geometry. With attaching points that offer good visibility, both brackets allow for quick and easy changes of attachments. The attachment locking system is performed hydraulically from the comfort and safety of the cab. Offering jobsite flexibility, these brackets work with a wide range of attachments, including current and older generation Volvo attachments.
Rear Axle Oscillation: Rear axle oscillation increases machine stability, while low-maintenance features like a heavy duty planetary axle and sealed, integrated oscillating bearings lubricated with the axle oil increase machine uptime. Inboard wet-disc brakes improve reliability and safety.
The Volvo F-Series Wheel Loaders: The introduction of the new Volvo F-Series loaders began in 2007 with the launching of the Volvo L350F, the largest loader built by Volvo Construction Equipment. It was followed by the other members of the class: the L60F, L70F, L90F, L110F, L120F, L150F, L180F, and the L220F. All are equipped with the Volvo Tier 3-certified engines and are designed and engineered to lower operating costs.
