LAS VEGAS – Featuring high horsepower-per-cutting-tooth ratios, the BM 2000/50 and BM 2000/60 cold planer milling machines from BOMAG are designed to remove damaged or deteriorated asphalt surfaces from highways, streets and parking lots. Easily transportable and delivering high production, both units offer a 79-inch cutting width to remove a half lane of road surface in one pass.
Both planers are powered by fuel-efficient EPA Tier III compliant Deutz water-cooled diesel engines. The BM 2000/50 features a 469-horsepower engine that delivers a horsepower-per-cutting-tooth ratio of 2.8 and maximum working speed of 112 feet per minute (fpm). The 590-horsepower engine on the BM 2000/60 provides a horsepower-per-cutting-tooth ratio of 3.5 with a maximum working speed of 98 fpm. Both models are capable of milling depths up to 12.6 inches.
Each machine comes standard with four-track steering, providing added maneuverability in commercial applications and other tight job locations. Two working speeds with automatic power regulator optimize travel speed.
For optimal consistency while working over changing grades and slopes, the milling depth can be controlled using the INTEL-PLANER automatic depth control system. INTEL-PLANER allows the operator to dial in the appropriate grade, and a microprocessor automatically cuts to the desired depth as it moves along the asphalt surface.
A centrally located operator’s station offers exceptional jobsite visibility while dual grade and slope controls allow simple and safe operation from either side of the machine or from ground level. Thanks to a front-loading, hydraulically foldable discharge conveyor, each planer can easily be transported to and from the jobsite.
For fast maintenance in the field, the BM 2000/50 and BM 2000/60 feature quick-change cutting teeth and holders. Maintenance is further simplified by an onboard computer system, complete with graphic LCD readout that monitors and controls machine functions. This system continuously informs the operator of the machine’s working condition and can be used to check the status of scheduled maintenance requirements with the press of a button.
Other standard equipment on the BM 2000/50 includes a large capacity 713-gallon water tank and 211-gallon fuel tank. The BM 2000/60 has an 872-gallon water tank and fuel tank with a capacity of 317 gallons to allow longer periods of operation. A hydraulically folding operator’s station canopy, complete with front and rear windscreens, is optional.
