California’s Environmental Protection Agency Air Resources Board has given Caterpillar Level 3 conditional verification for its diesel particulate filter system for off-highway wheeled Tier 1, 2, and 3 machines in the 175-to-300 horsepower range, recognizing the system as effective in achieving a minimum 85-percent reduction in particulate matter emissions. The system also meets the state’s 2009 regulation on nitrogen dioxide emissions.
As more field test data results are considered, Caterpillar expects the verification to include tracked machines, as well as an extended horsepower range.
