BLS report shows private industry workplace illness and injuries continue to decline

The Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that for the fifth consecutive year illnesses and injuries in private industries declined in 2007. The recorded number of injuries and illnesses for 2007 was approximately 4 million; this translates to a rate of 4.2 cases per 100 full-time employees, slightly less than the rate of 4.4 per 100 full-time employees recorded in 2006.
