New cab, hydraulics highlight JCB’s compact excavators

JCB has launched a range of 1.5-metric-ton compact excavators featuring a new upper structure design, cab, hydraulics and controls and longer tracks for added stability. The company tailored both the 8016 and 8018 models to suit different customer requirements within the 1.5-metric-ton size category. The 8016 features a longer fixed undercarriage and 19-horsepower engine and offers several options, including auto-kickdown, two-speed motors. Both models use a tubular boom, offering light yet rigid construction and allowing increased visibility and the internal routing of hoses. The engine is positioned longitudinally, allowing the fuel and hydraulic tanks to be situated at the rear of the machine, a stability factor when digging. Also new from JCB: Later this year the company will introduce further improvements to its backhoe line, featuring upgrades to its seat-mounted, hydraulic Precision Control system. Other introductions include the 214eLL utility tractor, 456 wheel loader and Robot 180T skid steer.
