Utility strikes were down forty percent last year. Much of this can be attributed to the work being done by the Common Ground Alliance and the creation and promotion of the national “811” Call-before-you-dig phone number.
In 2005 Equipment World did a Special Report on the Alliance, excavation safety, sub-surface engineering and utility locating and marking–well worth reading if you’re looking for successful examples of industry-government partnerships. Glad to see these efforts bearing fruit.
