JLG's new 450AJ HC3 high-capacity boom lift has a 45-foot platform height and 25 feet of horizontal reach. It can carry up to three workers and tools to height in the 660-pound, 750-pound and 1,000-pound capacity zones.
The boom lift is equipped with a variety of features to meet the new ANSI standards for aerial work platforms. One of those features is load-sensing technology that allows operators to quickly respond to an overload situation, JLG says. “By removing or unloading items from the machine’s platform, for example, the 450AJ HC3 model will recognize when it’s back within its rated load capacity, then enable operations to resume without the need to recalibrate the machine," says Randi McClure, JLG's marketing manager for boom lifts.
JLG's zero-calibration automatic load-sensing system keeps the machine within an allowable work envelope by limiting range depending upon platform load. The operator is alerted when the allowable limit of the work envelope is exceeded, and the machine will stop until the operator either brings the boom down or retracts into a safe zone to continue working.
JLG says the zero-calibration feature on the unit eliminates the need to use external weights to calibrate the machine. It can be calibrated to full capacity without placing a 1,000-pound load in the platform.
To further meet ANSI standards, the 450AJ HC3 boom has a chassis tilt alarm that alerts the operator when the machine is on a slope greater than 5 degrees and then automatically shuts down. The machine allows operators to return to a work area within acceptable operating conditions. After the machine senses it is back in the allowable tilt range, operators can reposition and operate it within the rated load and slope tolerance.
The LED platform display and ground controls can sense ambient light conditions and adjust brightness to increase readability.
Part of JLG's Hi-Capacity product line, the model offers ease of transportation by having the same footprint as the company's standard unit.
