XCMG Releases 2 New Mini Excavators for North American Market

China-based XCMG has launched two new mini excavators for the North American market, the 2.7-metric-ton XE27U Pro and the 4.8-metric-ton XE45U Pro.

Both new Pro Series models get Kubota diesel engines and are designed for working in tight spots with zero tail swing.

Here’s a look at the new excavators:

XE27U Pro

It runs on a 20.7-horsepower Kubota and is designed for small contractors performing utility trenching and other tasks in confined, urban areas. It can be configured as canopy or enclosed cab.

Features on the XE27U include:

• Load-sensing hydraulics designed to deliver smoother motion and cleaner response under load. Dual-auxiliary hydraulic circuits deliver up to 22 gallons per minute of flow for attachments.
• Upgraded cab with mechanical suspension seat, color touchscreen, pilot controls and adjustable sunshade.
• Standard dozer blade.
• Variable-angle boom of 35 degrees left and 75 degrees right for working beside buildings and other obstacles.
• Towable with half-ton pickup.
• Side mirrors.
• Front windshield folds up and out of the way.

XE45U Pro

“The XE45U Pro delivers strong breakout force and rapid hydraulic response, supported by a reinforced and widened undercarriage designed to improve stability, attachment compatibility and backfilling efficiency,” the company says.

It runs on a 39.8-horsepower turbo-diesel Kubota and uses an intelligent electronic control system designed to balance hydraulic output and fuel use in real time.

Mini excavators are the second-highest selling type of construction equipment, behind compact track loaders, according to Fusable’s EDA equipment finance data. More than 32,500 new financed units were sold from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026, making up more than one-fifth of all construction equipment sales.
