Not allowing Ford much time to revel in its latest sport truck and replacement to the SVT Lightning, Ram Truck has responded to the F-150 Tremor with a powerful and sleek pickup of its own in the 2013 Ram 1500 Black Express.
This is the Johnny Cash of pickups. It’s got an all-black exterior including black 20-inch aluminum wheels, headlamps with bold black bezels, taillights with black finishes and an all-black grille. Even the Ram’s head logos on the front and rear have been blacked out and all side-body badging has been removed for a clean, custom look.
The interior comes in cloth or vinyl and in your choice of black or diesel gray. Choosing gray seems a little odd as it would definitely throw off the whole “all-black” thing, but maybe that’s just us.
But the Black Express isn’t all looks. Inside is a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 that pushes 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s available in two- and four-wheel-drive models and in regular, quad or crew cab body styles.
Ram says the truck is aimed at younger and first-time buyers who value both style and performance. And the price makes that clear: the truck starts at just $28,090.
You can expect to start seeing these pop up at dealerships by the end of this month.
