Hayward Baker buys Geo­Foundations, expands Canadian presence

Hayward Baker and Geo­Foundations have previously worked together on several projects, including this grout trial program for a deep geologic repository to store radioactive waste in at a nuclear generating station in Western Ontario.

In a move it says underlines its desire to further serve the Canadian geotechnical construction market, Hayward Baker has acquired Geo­Foundations Contractors of Acton, Ontario.

Now a subsidiary of Hayward Baker Canada, Geo­Foundations will retain its name, and its founder, Todd Edmunds, will remain as president of the new subsidiary.

Geo­Foundations specializes in jet grouting, rock pressure grouting, soil permeation grouting and compaction grouting. Other services include micropiles, rock and soil anchors and soil nailing.

The firm has done a number of high visibility projects, including the Union Station rehabilitation in downtown Toronto, which involves lowering a floor to add retail space.

Both firms say the move was the result of working together on several projects. “When the opportunity arose to join forces, it was clear that the team-­oriented philosophies of the two firms were well-aligned­ as well as our shared goals for the Canadian market,” says Eric Drooff, president of Hayward Baker Canada.
