AEM presented its webinar, “REACH, RoHS, WEEE, Conflict Minerals: The Important Regulations Impacting Engineers and Manufacturers,” on January 19. The seminar, which took place in partnership with the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, was designed to help companies better understand and comply with European and United States environmental rules.
All companies selling into the European Union must comply with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals regulations as well as the Restriction of Hazardous Substances and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directives. In the United States, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act requires disclosure of “conflict minerals” from the Democratic Republic of Congo region used for production or functionality.
The webinar’s presenters demonstrated the issues and challenges with REACH, RoHS, WEEE and Dodd-Frank and their effects on how companies do business.
