Cummins launches Tier 4 Website

At Bauma 2010, Cummins Inc. announced the launch of its Tier 4 Website to provide equipment users with an early insight into the performance and operation of field test installations ahead of the January 2011 effect date for EPA Tier 4 Interim and EU Stage IIIB low emissions engines above 173-hp (129-kW).

The Website (www.tier4.info) content is based on more than 40,000 hours accumulated experience of Tier 4 powered equipment on customer field tests and evaluation tests by equipment manufacturers.

“The clear message from our field test customers is that they prefer using equipment repowered with Cummins Tier 4 engines, compared with the equivalent Tier 3 engines they replaced,” said Hugh Foden, executive director of Cummins Off-Highway Business, in a written statement announcing the release of the new Website.

“Field test equipment operating on commercial service has demonstrated improved engine response and lower fuel consumption, while achieving the same exceptional levels of uptime achieved by the Tier 3 installations,” Foden continued.

Foden says the new site “is ideal way of sharing the experiences of Cummins field test equipment operators with others in the industry who would like to understand more about the performance of Tier 4 powered equipment compared with Tier 3.”

The Website will continue to be populated with additional information as Cummins rapidly approaches a significant milestone of 100 completed Tier 4 installations, varying from wheeled loaders to a yard spotter, snow groomer and excavators to a rock drill.

The site is expected to provide a useful educational resource for OEM dealers, rental companies and equipment operators. Visitors to the website can learn about the next generation technology, including details about Cummins exhaust aftertreatment and Direct Flow air cleaner.

Also featured on the news ite are a customer testimonial video, the latest product brochures, regulatory details and a Tier 4 fuel saver calculator.
