Leica Geosystems appoints vice president, business development

Leica Geosystems’ GIS & Mapping division has named Jim Farley vice president, business development. Farley has spent more than 20 years in the information technology industry, working in the public and private sectors and in academia. During the past four years, he was senior principal product manager, spatial and location products in server technologies, for Oracle. Farley has worked as technical director at the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies and as chief technology officer and professor at the University of Arkansas. He won a Smithsonian Laureate for his work in distributed spatial data warehousing for government in 1999.
