Registration opens for ABC national convention

Imagine lying on a warm beach, surrounded by lush tropical gardens, pristine waterfalls and the exotic wildlife of Honolulu. Now imagine you are at the 2004 Associated Builders and Contractors National Convention. If you register this month, you can do both.

The ABC 2004 National Convention will be held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu Feb. 25-29. The convention will feature a number of business management seminars as well as networking opportunities and the Excellence in Construction awards.

Two competitions will be held at the convention — the 2004 national craft championships and the ABC student chapters construction management competition. The national craft championships, a two-day event scheduled for Feb. 26-27, will feature carpentry, masonry, metal building, pipefitting, plumbing, welding, sheetmetal, millwright, firesprinkler, electrical and HVAC competitions. Winners in each category will receive cash and industry tool prizes. The student chapters construction management competition will be a one-day event that challenges student teams to perform a cost estimate, prepare a schedule and develop a safety plan for a construction project. The cash prizes for the competition will total $5,000.

Online registration for the convention will be available this month at www.abc.org. To find out more about the convention, call 703-812-2025.
