The drone footage below, from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), takes you on a tour of the SR 99 tunnel that tunnel boring machine Bertha excavated under Seattle. The drone enters the end of the tunnel nearest the Space Needle and travels through the tunnel to the other end near the stadiums.
The video offers a glimpse of the work that has been going on since Bertha was removed from the tunnel. WSDOT reports that approximately 85 percent of the upper deck of the tunnel’s double-deck highway has already been completed, leaving the lower deck and operating systems still to be done.
