ARTBA Contractor Safety Awards go to Pennsylvania, Texas companies

The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) Transportation Development Foundation presented its annual Contractor Safety Awards to a Pennsylvania and Texas company during the group’s recent national convention.

Winners this year, awarded in two categories, include:

• 500,000 to 1 million hours: Wagman Heavy Civil of York, Pennsylvania
• More than 1 million hours: Webber, LLC of The Woodlands, Texas

The Contractor Safety Awards aims to “promote worker safety and health as core values of the transportation design and construction industry.“ ARTBA selects the winners based on a low “OSH Recordable Rate” measured against benchmarks the Bureau of Labor Statistics establishes

Company representatives make a presentation to a panel of judges at ARTBA’s convention, who then evaluate the entries based on corporate safety culture, operational safety plans and worker training programs.
