PetersNebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) Director-State Engineer Randy Peters is retiring from the position he has held since 2012. His retirement is effective May 1.
“It has been my privilege and honor to serve alongside the men and women of NDOR to build and operate a transportation network that touches every Nebraska community,” Peters said.
In his 38-year career with NDOR, Peters served in a number of roles, including deputy director for engineering, state traffic engineer, assistant roadway design engineer, computer-aided design coordinator and head of transportation planning and project development.
Moe Jamshidi, NDOR deputy director for operations and chief engineer, will serve as acting director. Jamshidi, also a long-term NDOR veteran, has served as project engineer, assistant bridge engineer and materials engineer in his 30 years at the department.
Gov. Pete Ricketts has announced three candidates for the director position:
- Jim Kowach, currently director of engineering and design for the Kansas Department of Transportation
- Kyle Schneweis, a partner in transportation planning, policy and financial consulting firm High Street Consulting Group, LLC
- Richard Tetreault, director of program development/highways and chief engineer at the Vermont Agency of Transportation
