Hillary Clinton is out, John Kerry is in

President Obama plans to nominate former presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) today to replace Hillary Clinton (D) as the secretary of State, Justin Sink of The Hillreports, citing multiple news reports.

The news service reports that the announcement is likely to come after the president and Kerry return from the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., where Obama and Kerry were planning to attend the funeral of Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii).

The Hill also reports that ABC News reported last week that Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is planning to fill the Senate seat that would be left open by Kerry. The report also notes that Kerry has already had a discussion with Vicki Kennedy, the widow of former Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.).
