PennDOT announces innovation mapping tool

PennDOT logoPennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) secretary Barry J. Schoch has announced a new website that illustrates innovations that have been deployed on roads and bridges throughout the state.

The State Transportation Innovation Council (STIC) Web Viewer is an online tool for users to locate transportation innovations such as pavement techniques that are environmentally friendly and improve safety, and accelerated bridge construction that saves time and money being implemented in Pennsylvania.

“The STIC Web Viewer allows our customers and partners to see the innovative techniques that we’re implementing to increase safety, save time and money for our customers and business partners,” said PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch. “Working with our state, federal and industry partners we’re identifying proven practices and are continuously striving to deliver a safer, more efficient transportation system.”

The web viewer provides technical details on innovations underway and educational information about the STIC. On the website, the public can view innovations in their region sorted by county, PennDOT district, or transportation planning partner.
