State transportation departments, and others involved in state highway projects, have the chance to receive up to $1 million each to use toward innovation planning and implementation.
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) last week announced the availability of approximately $30 million in incentive funding for state DOTs under its Accelerated Innovation Deployment (AID) Demonstration program, AASHTO Journal reports.
The agency “encourages the use of AID Demonstration to promote the deployment of the Every Day Counts initiatives, which provides ways of improving the work of highway planning, design, construction and operation,” according to FHWA’s AID Demonstration site.
The program is part of the administration’s Technology and Innovation Deployment Program (TIDP) under the current highway funding bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21).
FHWA will award funds on a rolling basis to multiple projects, with each project receiving between $500,000 and $1 million.
